We believe the teacher is the key element for student achievement. Effective instructional content combined with a well-supported teacher offers students the best chance for success. Our goal is to offer you more time for teaching and less time searching for resources.
The extensive AWARD Teacher Guide at each grade level offers 36 lessons. Each of the lessons include five sessions, all revolving around targeted reading skills and Common Core Standards.
Each session offers an easy reference for Common Core standards and Learning goals, both as a summary for quick review and delineated in the left hand margin of each session’s instruction. This includes the supplemental instruction as well as the additional, intervention activities.
The instructional activities that follow each learning goal statement are specific and detailed. As supportive as this content is, we encourage you to elaborate with your own expertise within this well-organized master template.
AWARD teacher notes incorporate reminders and suggestions for appropriate independent student activities. Some of your students will need the extra practice and others will be able to reach proficiency with less practice.
Every Teachers’ Guide is accompanied by a 248-page Assessment Guide, offering blackline masters for that one-on-one formative assessment time with your young learners. Also included is a home survey, book logs and templates for students to set personal learning goals.
Each Teacher’s Guide contains:
An overview of the program components and key features
The format of the digital program and a description of the online activities
Sample frameworks, the five-session content for supplemental and intervention
Text leveling specifics
Implementation of the Common Core Standards
AWARD strategies for ELLs and striving readers
Teacher tools: organization, extra supplies list, literacy task cards and more
Formative Assessment options
